The IPCC provides regular assessment of the scientific basis of climate change, its impacts and future risks, and options for adaption and mitigation. The reports pubished can help policy makers to develop climate policies. EU's climste chief Frans Timmersmans said that this report "should be the basis for greater ambition at COP28".
